Ali Asgar Bhagat is the Director of the Singapore Health Technologies Consortium (HealthTEC.SG) and Deputy Director (Translation) at the Institute for Health Innovation and Technology (iHealthtech) and Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at National University of Singapore. He leads the translation arm of iHealthtech, overseeing intellectual property filing, technology development and commercialization, and developing strategic programs to promote the Institute’s mission. Before NUS, A/Prof. Bhagat was Principal Manager at Accelerate Technologies Pte Ltd, the commercialization arm of Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), in-charge of evaluation and commercialization of biomedical research output of multiple institutes (>100 patent families). Previously, he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Clearbridge Biomedics Pte Ltd (now Biolidics Ltd), an NUS start-up developing novel oncology diagnostic solutions. At Clearbridge, he lead the design and development of the ClearCell® line of products and CTChips®. Before joining Clearbridge, Ali worked as a Research Scientist in the newly formed Biosystems and Micromechanics (BioSyM) group at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Centre, Singapore. Inventor on numerous granted patents and author of over 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications, Ali’s interests lie in developing technologies and products, building teams, and taking a concept from prototype to commercial launch and revenue.

Ali received his MS (2006) and PhD (2009) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, USA and held Associate Scientist position at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.

Professor Chwee Teck Lim is the NUSS Chair Professor and Director of the Institute for Health Innovation and Technology at the National University of Singapore. He is also the Founding Director of the Singapore Health Technologies Consortium, a national initiative. He conducts research in human disease mechanobiology and develops innovative medical technologies for healthcare applications. Prof Lim has co-authored over 500 journal articles and delivered over 550 invited talks. He is also a serial entrepreneur having cofounded six startups with one public listed in 2018. Prof Lim is globally recognised for his distinguished achievements by the over 100 research awards and honors including the Nature Lifetime Achievement Award for Mentoring in Science, Otto Schmitt Award, Highly Cited Researcher, Asia’s Most Influential Scientist Award, ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award, Asian Scientists 100, Credit Suisse Technopreneur of the Year Award, Wall Street Journal Asian Innovation Award and the President's Technology Award. He is also an Elected Fellow of 9 academies including the UK Royal Society, US National Academy of Inventors, ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, Singapore National Academy of Science, Academy of Engineering, Singapore and Institution of Engineers, Singapore among others.
