Binu Kundukad

Senior Research Fellow at Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), NTU

Dr Binu Kundukad is a senior research fellow at SCELSE under Prof Staffan Kjelleberg in the Biofilm Biology cluster. She specialises in biophysics, rheology, and microfluidics and is interested in viewing biofilms and biofilm matrix from a physics perspective to understand how the mechanical properties of biofilm matrix contribute to their emergent properties. She is also interested in employing biophysical methods to both detect and manipulate biofilms for preventive measures. She was awarded a PhD in physics at the National University of Singapore in 2010 and undertook her post-doctoral research at the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. Her highlighted works include the investigation of the mechanical characteristics of biofilms and the mechanistic insights into drug action on biofilms.
